So you think you've run out of great date night ideas? Never fear, here are a few ideas you might have overlooked to keep the late summer fun in your romantic life:
Get yourself and your sweetie to the last two of this season's Start Parties to celebrate the Autumn Equinox (Sept 19) or the total lunar eclipse coming up (September 27). Wear something warm (its gonna be outside) and bring a flashlight (it's gonna be dark out). Oh, and it's free.
The beer garden opens at 7 and movies start around 9. With just a $5 purchase you and your sweetie can spend the night watching James Bond 9September 9), Animal House (September 16), Good Fellas (Sept 23), or Wild (Sept 30). Wear layers- it's outside and could get chilly. Or maybe that's an excuse to cuddle closer...
Don't miss your last chance to cycle with an entire neighborhood in Portland. Pack a picnic basket and sweet treats and take your sweetheart for a ride.
This one might be costly, but at $25-65 for tickets you get a heck of a lot of fun for the two of you: chalk walls, cornhole, giant Jenga, kombucha, food carts, and craft fairs... almost guaranteeing a good time!
One of the best parts of the weather turning colder is the rise of roller derby in Portland. If you would rather stay indoors for your date night, check out a bout and cheer your team (September 18, 19, and 20, tickets are $14-20)
If you want to support a great cause and get outdoors for the last sunny days of summer join me at Portland AIDS Walk 2015. Walk 2.4 miles and then celebrate with other walkers at the beer garden.
If you put off buying concert tickets to one of the awesome outdoor shows in town this summer don't worry- there's still time to get tickets to either Brandi Carlile (Sept. 11) or Empire of the Sun (Sept 18). Wander the beautiful gardens at Edgefield all day and then join the crowd on the lawn for great music under the stars. Bring a low lawn chair or a blanket- ot does get chilly after the sun goes down.
